Playful Miniature

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This group project is a hypothetical print development design process under the Advanced Print Design module of Semester 4, for the brand 'The Jodi Life'.  The Jodi works with signature bold and graphic prints fused with unique silhouettes. They use traditional Indian block printing methods for their printing process.

Indian Miniature has a lot of elements which are stylized forms inspired from nature. The brand Jodi Life does not work with realistic motifs and work with stylized forms of them. For my development of motifs, I have taken inspiration from the common elements of Indian miniature paintings and composed them in a stylized manner. As the brand already has a lot of stylized motifs inspired from nature, I wanted to offer a stylized composition of the elements.

I have taken inspiration from the flora and fauna found in the Indian Miniature paintings like- Peacock, Lotus blooms, Rabbit, Black buck, Parrot, Trees and Bushes.

Minimalist abstracts, maximalist miniatures, soothing lines, energetic colours and forms inspired from Indian miniature paintings to create a playful contemporary design is my main inspiration.
